Bada Haus is a Las Vegas interior design studio built around a simple belief: before you design a home, you have to understand the person who lives there.
Bada (바다), pronounced BAH-dah, means sea in Korean. I grew up in Hawaii surrounded by the Pacific, so for me, the word connects my Korean heritage with the place I grew up.
Haus is a nod to Bauhaus, but also to the idea of the house as something larger than a building: a place where life, identity, objects, and ideas come together.
Together, Bada Haus became my House of the Sea.
Belonging has always meant a lot to me. Growing up Korean American in Hawaii shaped my sense of identity and where I fit. Being a gay man added another layer, especially in figuring out where and with whom I could fully be myself. Those experiences taught me how much belonging matters, and why I care about creating spaces where people can express who they are without having to explain it.
Long before I understood the principles of design, I understood how a space could make you feel. Formal training gave me the foundation, and more than a decade of experience taught me how to turn instinct and ideas into spaces that actually work.
I think about what a space could become, how you’ll live in it, and what it could make possible for you. How do you live? What do you love? What have you collected? Where have you been? Who are you becoming? What haven’t you imagined yet?
My job isn’t simply to give you what you already know you want. It’s to see possibilities you may not have considered and create something you couldn’t have imagined on your own, but that still feels completely yours.
When it’s finished, I want the feeling to be simple:
A home should not feel like it was designed for you.
It should feel like you.
